Work
Why is it that when you try your hardest at work, it always seems to go unnoticed, yet the new kid always gets the recognition that you should deserve?! I have been at my job for three years now, and I feel this way allll the time. Even days that I KNOW I worked my butt off, I never even get a "thank you" at the end of my shift. Why is it that people tend to only pay attention to the new person? It's not like they did anything special...and here I am over here with people asking me if I am a manager because I know my stuff. I guess the world truly is unfair. But at the same time, it is all about how you view yourself. People in this world are always gonna knock you down and tell you that you can't. I think the best thing to do is say screw em, because you know what you are capable of. I KNOW that I am better and more capable than what my managers think. And yes, this may sound cocky, but please know that I don't mean it in that way. I say this because I believe in myself and I know that I am meant for bigger, better things in life than becoming a manager/supervisor at a retail store. So for now, I guess I just have to be thankful that I have a job during these tough times. But I know that I will soar someday :).

Texting
Soooo tonight I was at my friends house and she was telling me about this new guy she met at work. Sure enough, as we are sitting there he texts her saying hi. Then, we literally spent twenty minutes arguing over what she should say back. I'm sure pretty much any girl who owns a phone and has started talking to a guy she likes has experienced this at least once. It is crazy how texting has opened a whoooole different set of rules for talking! For example, if you put too many exclamations, you come off as needy. If you text back too soon? Too eager and he loses interest. What about too many periods? You come off as mad. So basically, it becomes a problem! One of my biggest pet peeves is when you send someone a text and their only reply is "ya" or "k." Like, as if we don't already go crazy over what to say to you guys, you send us this and make us feel like a nuisance. But oh well, I guess we can never win. Anyone else experience this?

Rain is such a beautiful thing. I feel like it just washes away everything. I love days like this because it reminds me of my childhood when we would come home from school and eat hot chocolate and popcorn while it was pouring outside. There is something freeing about the rain. Ever take a moment to let yourself get drenched while it is pouring down? You should definitely do it. It truly is a feeling that you can't explain. I think that all too often we forget about the little things in life. People nowadays are too focused on deadlines, losing weight, getting somewhere in a hurry, or stressing about superfluous details that really do not make any positive impact on anyone's life at the end of the day. We definitely need to get back to basics. Just remember, you are the only you on this planet, and you only live once. So, if You want to eat a slice of cake, go for it! Unhappy about something? Make a change! And remember, NOBODY on this entire planet is you or ever will be you. So celebrate your uniqueness, because nothing is more special than that.

Ever notice how friends come and go? This seems to happen a lot, and although it seems weird and somewhat disheartening, I think there is a purpose for it. A few days ago I was talking to my sister about how people enter our lives for support during specific times, as well as how people grow distant for similar reasons. During high school, I can recall growing pretty close with a number of individuals, most of which I have lost contact with now. But as I sit and reminisce, I realize that they were all important pillars during times of confusion and even pain. Even now, I am noticing that the dynamics of my close friendships are changing. I think this is why they say that the friends you stick by in the long haul are the ones you meet in college, because you become friends based on similar interests or personality traits. Although it is quite possible for the lucky few individuals to maintain strong childhood friendships, friends generally do not stay close going into college because we all begin to figure out who we are as individuals. Now, of course this seems a bit cynical, but in reality it is a great thing, because once you begin to realize what you want in a friend, you will meet individuals that match this "friend profile" astonishingly quickly. I have also noticed in my personal experience that mere acquaintances from the past may pop back into your life and become your most important friend yet. This is the case of my best friend and I, as we both knew of each other, but did not share many similar interests. Now, however, as we have both grown up we are very similar and are basically the same person. Its friends like these that you want to keep by your side, even if the waters get rough :)

A good friend recently told me that I should not try to fit in with the crowd because I am not meant to fit in. Although that is all well and good, it is a tad bit scary because generally we all just want to be accepted. I think that from where I stand today, looking back on everything that I have been through in my life thus far, I am willing for the challenge to "be myself," and I refuse to let others pass judgment on who I am and who I want to become. I believe that this is an important message to everyone, because all too often, I find that people, no matter what age, are afraid to really shine and be who they really want to be. My purpose for this blog is to hopefully show others not only my story and what is to come, but to help others see the light as well. I think that even though we are our own best friends, we are also our own worst enemies, and sometimes we just need a friend to say that things will be okay. We just need to remind ourselves that we are not alone and even though things seem tough at times, it will be okay :).
